Donation spectacles \u2013 a partnership with North Balwyn Rotary<\/i><\/span><\/h4>\n

Many people in developing countries have no or limited access to optometry care. For the vision impaired, a pair of glasses can open a door of opportunity, as well as bring the world into focus for the first time. A simple pair of glasses can help a student read and learn or help an adult work. So, don\u2019t leave your old glasses in the bottom of the cupboard or back of the drawer. Bring them in to Boroondara Eye Care \u2013 we will make any minor repairs, give them a clean and label them with the lens prescription. North Balwyn Rotary then takes your donated glasses to developing countries, such as Vietnam, where they are given directly to those in need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student clinical supervision<\/i><\/span><\/h4>\n

Every year, Boroondara Eye Care participates in Melbourne University\u2019s clinical placement program for final year optometry students. This is an essential part of a student\u2019s training, preparing him or her for optometry practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Equipment donation<\/i><\/span><\/h4>\n

A Humphrey visual fields analyser was donated by Boroondara Eye Care. With the assistance of Leunig and Farmer Optometrist John Farmer and Carl Zeiss, this is now used by the eye care professionals in the Port Moresby General Hospital Eye Clinic in PNG.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1621847236021{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1602910940009{margin-left: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Our environment<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

These days, it’s impossible to turn on the television, read the newspaper or scroll through social media without coming across articles on climate change. We all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can. At Boroondara Eye Care, we are committed to the principles of reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle in our day-to-day operations. Some of these steps may be small, but we believe everything adds up!<\/p>\n

Recycling contact lenses<\/em><\/h4>\n

As part of our continued commitment to sustainability, we have a Zero Waste Box\u2122 for recycling contact lenses, contact lens cases, blister packs and cardboard packaging.<\/p>\n

The Zero Waste Box system is an all-in-one recycling solution from TerraCycle\u00ae. Everything collected through the box is sorted and processed into raw materials that can be reused instead of being sent to landfill.<\/p>\n

Lens cleaner refills<\/i><\/span><\/h4>\n

When your lens cleaner runs out, bring in the empty bottle for us to refill. This is just another small way for us all to reduce the amount of plastic going to landfill!<\/p>\n

Go Full Circle program<\/em><\/h4>\n

In late 2022, Boroondara Eye Care completed the six-week Go Full Circle pilot program offered through City of Boroondara, supported by Sustainability Victoria and delivered by Circular Economy Victoria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Designed for small- to medium-sized <\/span>businesses, the program teaches how to:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • how to implement a circular economy to improve financial, environmental and social outcomes for both our business and our customers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
